BYOB (Build Your Own Brand) - STARTS Monday, October 15!
Build Your Own Brand is an entrepreneurial workshop series geared toward underrepresented minority students with businesses or business ideas, to help them gain the skills and tools to be confident leaders with memorable brands. Participants will hear from successful entrepreneurs and professionals and complete hands-on exercises to learn the essentials of branding, marketing, entrepreneurial finance and more. Each participant who completes the program will receive their own custom designed business cards.
This series is open to KSU students, staff and faculty of all disciplines.
Imagine walking into an elevator and finding yourself face-to-face with a Venture Capitalist or CEO. Do you have what it takes to pitch your business or professional skills before they reach their stop? Give it a shot in LaunchNET's 4th annual Elevator Pitch competition.
Pizza, networking, games, and $1,000 in prizes, including best business pitch and best personal pitch.
WHAT: A fun, competitive contest to develop innovative ideas in the areas of content development, revenue generation, audience engagement and collaboration. Winning ideas have the chance to receive funding to launch their ideas within Kent State Student Media.
WHEN: Contest opens Sept. 28th and closes Oct. 28th at 11:59 p.m., with final judging to be completed by Dec. 1, 2018
WHO: All currently enrolled Kent State University students are invited to pitch. Entrants do not have to be connected to a Student Media partner, though they are encouraged to collaborate as they see fit.
AWARDS: Winning ideas will share in up to $10,000 to help launch the idea with the Student Media partner(s) involved. The winning innovators (those who submitted the winning pitches) will share in $1,000 in prize money.

The Hudson Library will host its sixth annual “Pitch Night” on Tuesday, November 13 at 6:30 p.m.
Participants will need to apply online at hudsonlibrary.org for one of the 10-minute time slots available for this “shark tank” style program. Online applications must be received by Monday, October 29, 2018.

FUEL by The Bit Factory is a unique pitch competition for MVP-stage software startups. Four finalists get the opportunity to negotiate up to $15,000 in investment and quick admittance to our new Product Development Accelerator.
GSEA is the premier award program for students running a business. You must submit your application before November 9, 2018. The finalists will present on December 1st at CWRU.
Founders from Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Youngstown, Wooster, and everywhere in between will be in attendance. If you’re the current, recent, or future founder of a startup in software, physical goods, food, health, or any other product industries, please make the effort to come out and take part in our community.
College student teams with digital media startups (in concept, in development or in operation) can apply.
In keeping with the SXSW Interactive focus, all teams should fall into at least one of the following categories: Augmented & Virtual Reality, Enterprise & Smart Data, Entertainment & Content, Health & Wearable, Hyper-Connected Communities, Payment & FinTech, Security & Privacy, Social & Culture, Sports & Performance Data, and Transportation.
