SkyHack Design Challenge
Friday, November 1, 2019 through Sunday, November 3, 2019 

Open to students 18 years of age or older from any US college or university, in any area of study.

Five challenges related in some way to the aviation/aeronautics industry will be presented. Over the course of the weekend, students will establish interdisciplinary teams, innovate, produce prototypes and pitch their ideas to a panel of judges for a chance to win the Burton D. Morgan grand prize of $10,000.

Each challenge stream will have a $1,000 winner.

Help us help high school students get innovative!
We need about 30 students, staff, and/or faculty members to help out with a STEM-focused entrepreneurship and innovation program aimed at high schoolers!

The event takes place on Tuesday, October 29, and you will be needed from 10:45am - 1pm. You will be helping to facilitate a table of students working on an innovative solution. Lunch will be served and anyone who helps out will also receive a $25 Visa gift card

Adobe Creative Jam at Kent State
Kent State University will be hosting an Adobe Premiere Rush Creative Jam on October 28th and 30th from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. in the Garden Room

What is a Creative Jam? A Creative Jam is an event where:
  • Speakers inspire with thought-provoking talks
  • A bootcamp provides software know-how
  • Student teams compete in a fast-paced tournament based on a theme
  • Professional judges give real-time feedback on projects
  • Winning teams are awarded for outstanding design thinking

2nd Annual FlashLab Pitch Contest | Kent State Student Media
WHAT: A fun, competitive contest to develop innovative ideas in the areas of content development, revenue generation, audience engagement and collaboration. Winning ideas have the chance to receive funding to launch their ideas within Kent State Student Media.

WHEN: Contest opens Sept. 16th and closes Oct. 27th at 11:59 p.m., with final judging to be completed by Dec. 4, 2018

WHO: All currently enrolled Kent State University students are invited to pitch. Entrants do not have to be connected to a Student Media partner, though they are encouraged to collaborate as they see fit.

Five teams will present their research findings on how the Internet of Things (IoT) may impact business operations at Akron Children’s Hospital, First Energy, Goodyear, The J.M. Smucker Company and Timken.  This is a chance to celebrate the students’ work and foster new connections around innovation.

Students, developers, designers, investors, engineers, researchers, and community members will have the opportunity to participate in this high-energy, all-night problem solving session to help solve some of healthcare’s most pressing issues.
Ventures who apply to SheEO are majority women-owned, women-led, revenue-generating (at least $50K up to ~$2M in revenue at the time of application)  with export potential and able to answer how they are creating a better world.
For undergraduate or graduate college/university students with a company: operating for at least 6 months with at least $500 in generated revenue.
